Online Cake Decorating Classes
I have been cake decorating for over 8 years now, and I LOVE it! One of my favorite things to do teach. Its one of the reasons I started a blog, I love doing cake tutorials and inspiring you guys to make your own cakes at home. I love making cakes for clients, of course, but what really makes me giddy is when someone sends me a picture of a cake they made for their child!
I love teaching cake decorating, so if your local to SLC come by Orson Gygis, I teach every month and I LOVE it! BUT since not all of you are local I wanted to be able to teach MORE of you. When atly approached me about making online video classes I was SO excited!
I now have two classes ready and available with a few more in the works! any requests? what would you like to learn?
My first class is Basic Buttercream, and its FREE! I share my favorite tools, tips and tricks for baking your cake. Then go over trimming, filling and frosting your cake. I also go over how to stack and tier your cake! Its great basics and I hope you all love it.
My second class is Modern Buttercream, and its $29. In this class I share my ULTRA secret buttercream recipe that I have been working on for years! Ive been saving it for my first cookbook, but I decided to use it as part of this class! Its an amazing recipe, a mix between classic buttercream and swiss meringue.
How Much Were The Supplies
Aside from the fees and materials, I did purchase a few more tools. During the course of the class, Wilton/ Michaels tries to sell you some of their other tools, which is to be expected but some of the tools are actually useful. There are some tools I would have bought but Melissa already has most of them in her kitchen. Some of the tools I purchased later on for course one.

Eggless Vanilla Cake And Cake Decorating Tips
This is the picture of the first cake I decorated in Course 1 of Wilton’s Cake Decorating Courses. You can see that I need a lot of practice, but I’m sure that it will also give you the confidence that it’s easy and you can definitely do it.
I have been receiving a couple of mails since my earlier post on cake decoration, requesting me to update more information on how-to’s. The hardest part for me now is to give all the necessary information in an organized manner to the followers of this series. I feel that compiling this series is going to be difficult than actually taking the course and decorating the cakes.
I would say that the easiest thing to do is to enroll for the classes if it’s nearby your place and if you have the time for it. It’s a very nice experience. If not, check www.wilton.com. They have a lot of pictures, videos and tips etc. The only drawback is it’s a lot of information to take and without direction it’s difficult to follow. So I’ll provide some links here, following the course’s pattern. So it would be like you are taking an online class.
The Course 1 kit comes with a flower nail no.7, tip brush, standard couplers , decorator brush, featherweight decorating bags , disposable decorating bag , tips 3, 12, 16, 21, 104, 67 and 2D, a small straight spatula and a practice board set.
