New York City Ghosts Tour Of Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village is among the most haunted areas of New York City, and the best way to enjoy what it has to offer is hopping on this 90-minute tour.
It will take you to some of the most haunted places in New York, including the House of Death, the residence of Mark Twain, a house where Edgar Allan Poe wrote some of his scary stories, and a restaurant rumored to be haunted by the ghost of Aaron Burr.

On October 31, the Village Halloween Parade will return to Greenwich Village. As one of the citys spookiest processions and the nations largest public Halloween celebration, the parade features more than 50,000 zombies, ghouls, witches, monsters, robots, and Jedis. In past years, the parade has been viewed by more than four million people, and this year it will be live-streamed on NY1 starting at 8 p.m. The parades two themes for this year are LETS PLAY and All Together NOW, and the parade is dedicated to the children of New York City who were unable to properly celebrate Halloween in 2020. Going along with the themes, children have been invited to submit drawings that will be used to create giant puppets for the parade. Comedian Randy Rainbow will serve as the Grand Marshal for this years parade due to his bravery and determination to sing truth to power and make the world laugh during hard times.
Marching in the parade is free for all, but costumes are mandatory. Members of the procession will begin lining up at Sixth Avenue and Canal Street around 6:30 p.m. and take off at 7 p.m. For those who wish to skip the line and march in the special theme section, $25 tickets can be purchased in advance. The parade will run up Sixth Avenue from Spring Street to 16th Street in Manhattan until around 9 p.m.

Multistory Murderer In New Jersey
What started as standard Christmas decorations with blowup characters four years ago has grown into a literally over-the-top Halloween display. Thats because Kevin Malinski sets up a 35-foot inflatable Michael Myers that towers over his Bloomingdale, NJ, home.
Halloween is one of my favorite movies, Malinski told The Post. So, after I got the Christmas blowups going, I decided to get a Mike Myers one for Halloween.
But, as popular as the 1970s masked murderer is, no inflatables of him existed. Malinski didnt let that stop him. After reaching out to hundreds of production companies, he found a manufacturer in China willing to make him a custom design for $3,000. It took a month to plan, and the resulting piece is a three-story-tall horror icon that can be seen for miles.
It takes about two hours to set him up, and two blowers and a separate circuit breaker to keep him up 24/7, said Malinski. My electricity bill for October goes up to $150.

ASTORIA, QUEENS For most, Halloween is celebrated on Oct. 31, but Astoria resident Vicky Poumpouridis spends all year preparing for the holiday.
Her home, located at 26-18 Ditmars Boulevard, is known for its elaborate Halloween display, which she’s spent years curating, complete with animatronic demons and orange lights.
The spooky display made headlines again this year when it was included in the New York Post’s roundup of the six best Halloween displays in the city alongside Ellie Holt’s home in Astoria, located at 22-16 21st Street. All told, three of the included displays are in Queens.

West Village in Manhattan. Clinton Hill or Park Slope in Brooklyn.
Some of the houses/buildings between 5th and Madison avenues near the Met Museum go to some trouble. Sometimes there are gigantic pumpkins displayed and arrangements of gourds and other tasteful displays.
The stoops on the townhouses in the West Village are usually decorated. Probably all areas with townhouses will be decorated.
The streets close to the Brooklyn Promenade and the park are usually very nicely decorated. If you’re walking the Brooklyn Bridge, combine a walk around the “fruit tree” streets as well and nearby streets.
Chelsea Market has big Halloween decorations and animated displays. Possibly the best decorated store building I’ve seen.
We saw some nicely decorated houses in the Carrol Gardens neighbourhood of Brooklyn during Halloween week. The closer it got to Halloween the more displays we saw all over the city. I’d also agree with Aynat about Chelsea Market.
There is no Halloween equivilant of Dyker Heights at Christmas. Anyone who decorates is usually an individual thing and not a more community based event
I’d second the suggestions above of the area of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, and areas just north like Cobble Hill or Brooklyn Heights to a lesser extent.

“I was really excited to come shop here to get decor for my office. Everything looked amazing and seemed to be reasonably priced. I was in the store for a while trying to decide what I wanted. The store attendants were just talking to each other. No one approached me or offered to help. Finally I decided on a small fossil. I didn’t want to just grab it just in case so I asked one of the workers and she responded “you can just pick it up” with attitude. So I just decided not to get anything. Our favorite places for Christmas decorations are the gift shops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Opera…..gorgeous and unique, though a bit pricey. For Halloween, we do our own costumes and make-up and get most of our accessories from Ricky’s Halloween Stores at various locations in Manhattan….great stuff at good prices and which make wonderful gifts.
I’m thinking it might be too early for Halloween decorations in early October. But locals can confirm.
I know there were a few places starting to be decorated by mid October on my October trip a few years ago but it wasn’t everywhere even then.

While most city blocks boast decorations, be sure to check out the Village Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village or stop to take a photo at the famous Pumpkin Arch in the Seaport District, which are just two of the highlights of this list. Best Bets For Spotting Halloween Decorations
In our experience, the best bets for these homemade displays are the stoop neighborhoods. Spots that usually go all-out with Halloween decorations include the Upper West Side, particularly West 69th Street. The Upper East Side’s 78th Street between Park and Lexington is a long-time standout, too. The 90s regularly draw crowds in both the Upper East and Upper West Sides, and Chelsea is good for a few startles, too.

Perhaps no Manhattan neighborhood does local celebrations better than Harlem, where you’ll find decked-out brownstones surrounding Mount Morris Park in the 120s. Hamilton Terrace in the 140s, Astor Row, and Striver’s Row are also hot spots.
