The Magic Kingdom Will Be Decorated for Halloween 2020 Despite Not-So-Scary Party Cancellation. … After taking a moment to look it up, it was confirmed that the Magic Kingdom would be rolling out those classic fall decorations throughout the park, though there is currently no date set for when they will be added.
Halloween At Disneyland Park
As soon as you enter Disneyland, youll be greeted with amazing orange pumpkins and decorations on Main Street. The highlight is the giant carved Mickey pumpkin right in the middle of the town square. This is one of the most popular photo opp spots in the parks. Be sure to get there early if you want a picture because the line gets long pretty fast!

Special Disneyland Christmas World Of Color Edition
Unfortunately, World of Color- Season of Light will not return for the 2021 holiday year.
Disneyland at Christmas has great offerings of nighttime entertainment this season with the return of World of ColorSeason of Light show. World of Color underwent a long refurbishment so this year’s show is much missed and highly anticipated.
This Christmas version of World of Color combines holiday music with classical Disney moments from beloved films.
Watch the video above to get an idea of what to expect. But as always, I don’t recommend spoiling the surprise by watching videos in advance if you’ve never watched it before.
This show is sure to be popular this year since it was on hiatus the last holiday season. I recommend treating yourself to the Dessert Party or a dining package to ensure you have good seats. Read our World of Color guide closely for tips on how to get the best spot for the show.
Staybridge Suites Anaheim At The Park
A bit further from the park, this 3-star hotel is modern, clean, and offers spacious suites complete with modern kitchenettes. A reasonably-priced option for families or travelers looking to have the convenience of a fridge, microwave, and stove top in their rooms. Walking to the park is a bit far , but a blink of an Uber ride takes you straight to the front gates.

New Disneyland Holiday After Hours Party: Merriest Nites
NEW this year is a Disneyland Christmas after hours party called Disney Merriest Nites! The event will include a special viewing of A Christmas Fantasy Parade, themed holiday areas, live music, dance parties, unique character sights, snowfall on Main Street plus limited capacity access to Disneyland after close!
- Disney Merriest Nites will take place on Nov. 11, Nov. 16, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 9.
- Tickets will be available for purchase beginning Sept. 14, 2021 beginning at 9AM.
- Ticket prices are $165 per person for ages 3 and up Nov. 16, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 9. Ages two and under are free. Opening night on Nov. 11 is $175 per person.
- Guests with ticket can enter Disneyland beginning at 5PM.
- The party takes place from 8PM to midnight.

There will be six themed holiday parties around the park featuring enhanced entertainment with photo backdrops, unique character sightings and unique holiday treats! You can also look forward to mini themed holiday parties around Disneyland such as:

Disneyland Halloween 2021 Ride Overlays
For Halloween, Disneyland gets several ride overlays that guests may want to check out. Here are the overlays you can look forward to during Halloween Time at Disneyland in 2021 if they return:
- Haunted Mansion Holiday Jack Skellington and his friends take over the Haunted Mansion in this Nightmare Before Christmas-themed layover. One highlight of the ride overlay every year is the gingerbread house. In 2019, it paid homage to The Haunted Mansion which celebrated its 50th anniversary. This year, Haunted Mansion Holiday celebrates its 20th anniversary. I was actually in the parks, and rode the first year they did this overlay on my honeymoon! So I feel like this is special for me and Haunted Mansion. This years gingerbread house takes a piece of the prior years houses to make the largest house yet, at nearly 13 feet tall. Can you find what represents 2020?
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark Every evening, Guardians of the Galaxy changes to the Monsters After Dark version. It is an adventure that continues after the story of the Mission Breakout! version of the ride.
- Luigis Honkin Haul-O-Ween in Cars Land, Luigis gets a layover with some new, ghoulishly grand tunes.
- Maters Graveyard JamBOOree Again, this overlay in Cars Land includes some fun and Haul-O-Ween inspired music.

Halloween Rides And Entertainment At California Adventure
In Disney California Adventure park the Halloween entertainment and ride overlays have increased more and more each year.
Over in Cars Land, Maters Junkyard Jamboree will become Maters Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigis Rollickin Roadsters will change into Luigis Honkin Haul-O-Ween.
Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission: Breakout! becomes Guardians of the Galaxy-Monsters After Dark starting at 6 pm everyday. This special Halloween version of the attraction is a scarier version that does not include the popular song soundtrack of the regular version of the attraction. Instead, Monsters After Dark picks up where the main Mission: Breakout story leaves off. The attraction centers around your car serving as bait to distract the monsterswhich have inconveniently been released from their cagesfrom eating Baby Groot.

You can find more entertainment options like Plaza de la Familia in the Paradise Gardens Park- a celebration inspired by Día de los Muertos including a festive experience celebrating the film Coco with live entertainment, craft making, food, and merchandise.
Guests can enjoy a Musical Celebration of Coco several times a day when Miguel joins the storytellers of Plaza de la Familia and the Mariachi Divas.

Halloween At Disney California Adventure Park
Disney California Adventure offers a few grim grinning ghouls and ghosts of its own. Oogie Boogie’s oversized shadow haunts the main entrance of Disney California Adventure. Listen for his voice to speak out to you from time to time. Head over to the Headless Horseman statue on Buena Vista Street. Boo-tiful purple lights are aglow, and you can hear the faint clip-clop sounds of the horse or Oogie Boogie himself. The Disney characters are happily showing off their Halloween costumes. Last year, Disney Junior star Vampirina greeted guests during Halloween Time in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure. We hope she’ll be back we promise she won’t bite!
You’ll want to check the dates of the Oogie Boogie Bash before you plan your park visits to Disney California Adventure Park this season. The park closes to daytime guests at 6 p.m. on party nights . Party guests mix in beginning at 3 p.m., making that park more crowded in the afternoons and unavailable to guests without a party ticket during the evenings after 6 p.m. If you’re not attending Oogie Boogie Bash, visit Disney California Adventure on a non-event night to catch this park all aglow for Halloween Time.

Disneyland Halloween 2022 Rides And Entertainment
The Haunted Mansion becomes the Haunted Mansion Holiday for the Halloween and Disneyland Christmas seasons. This special holiday edition features the story of The Nightmare Before Christmas and characters from the film including Jack Skellington, Zero the Ghost Dog, and Sally. The attraction is fun regardless of whether you know the story of The Nightmare Before Christmas or not. Explained simply, the story goes something like this: the king of Halloween takes over the celebration of Christmas and we get to witness what happens when two holidays collide.
The one disappointment with the overlay is that because the Haunted Mansion Holiday runs from September-January, the classic Haunted Mansion attraction is only available for six months out of the year which is bemoaned by some Disney fans.
When the Haunted Mansion Holiday rolls into town, the lines balloon to have multi-hour waits so prioritize heading to this ride first thing in the morning!

Rivaling the Christmas season, Halloween at Disneyland Resort has proven more popular every year. In 2017 when Halloween expanded to California Adventure Park, guest couldnt get enough Halloween.

My Ideal Day For You At Disneyland
To be sure you get to enjoy lots of attractions and see all of the limited time holiday happenings, follow this plan:
Arrive an hour prior to park opening and follow one of my strategies in this post.
Doing so will allow you to get LOTS of attractions done prior to the afternoon, at which point I recommend you take a break from the parks. Go back to your hotel to rest, nap, swim, etc. Then, return to the park to follow this plan:
+Grab a spot between 2:45pm and 3:00pm anywhere in Town Square to watch the 3:00pm parade. I prefer the earlier one. But! Make sure youre not facing the sun where you set up to watch it. I learned this the hard way one year.
+After the parade ends, stick around for the flag retreat ceremony just after. Its usually around 4:30pm and takes place at the flag pole in Town Square, which is the section of the park you walk into after going through the tunnel on either side.
+Around 5:00pm, the Disneyland Christmas tree is lit. Watch it from Main Street, between the Emporium and the Magic Shop.
+After the tree lighting is finished, walk down Main, veer right before you run into the castle and walk down the path toward the Matterhorn. Pass the Matterhorn on your right and head toward its a small world. The first holiday lighting for this attraction happens at 5:15pm each day. You only have 10 minutes to make it there, so no tomfoolery. Focus!

Disney Hotels During The Holiday Season
One of my favorite parts of Downtown Disney year-round is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. Most guests don’t realize you don’t actually have to be staying at this hotel to hang out in the lobby. At Christmas time, this is especially fantastic as this deluxe hotel pulls out all the stops for the holidays.
And not to be missed in this hotel is the gigantic gingerbread house in the lobby! We spent a long time looking for all the hidden Mickeys in this display and taking in all the details.
Look at the details in the fireplace! So majestic. So delicious.
The back of the gingerbread house is also decorated and you can find more hidden Mickeys on this side too!
Just to see the scale take a look at the Disneyland Resort Christmas Carolers perform in the lobby! That’s one giant gingerbread house.
The Disneyland Resort Christmas Carolers are extremely talented, you can find them at each of the three hotels: Disney Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, and the Paradise Pier Hotel. Watch the video above to listen to part of one of their performances. They’ll usually include kids in their shows too which is great for little ones to experience some Disney magic.

Rides At Disneyland Halloween Time
There are special changes to certain rides during Disney Halloween Time. We already mentioned Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark at Disney California Adventure. One of the most popular rides is Haunted Mansion, which is converted to Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” The Mansion lights up at night try to be there for the lighting. There is no specific time but if you are in the area between 7 and 7:30 p.m. the Ghost Host will give you a treat by lighting the mansion.
Wait times for Haunted Mansion Holiday are significantly longer than at other times of the year, so we recommend you make this one of your priorities before 10 a.m. The ballroom always has a large gingerbread house on the table . In fact, 2021 marks the 20th year of Haunted Mansion Holiday! To celebrate, the gingerbread house pays homage to past gingerbread houses by featuring an element from each year’s house from 2001 through 2019. The result will be a visually chaotic mashup!
In “Radiator Screams,” Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters are parading as Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree has been transformed into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. Both rides have several Halloween-themed songs and decorations throughout the Halloween season. Radiator Screams lights up each night around sunset, with a special lighting song at Halloween Time.
