When Does Disney World Decorate For Christmas 2020

Is Disney World Decorated For Christmas In November

When Does Disney Decorate for Christmas? – The Answer Might Surprise You! – Disney Christmas Lights

Yes, Disney World is decorated for Christmas by early November. To give you an idea about when Christmas decorations might pop up this year, Magic Kingdom was fully decorated for the holidays by November 2 in 2020. The other Disney theme parks, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot were decorated by November 6 in 2020.

Disneyland Christmas Parade 2021

The Disneyland Christmas parade is the A Christmas Fantasy parade which follows the traditional parade route from it’s a small world to Main Street. This parade is a favorite among Disneyland guests and shows a variety of Disney favorites along with holiday characters like snowmen, gingerbread men, reindeer, and Santa himself.

The song for this parade is a wonderful blend of Disney classics and Christmas music that literally made me cry the first time I saw it. This continues to be one of my favorite parts of the Disneyland Christmas celebration.

In the above video you can see this beloved parade from the viewing area in front of it’s a small world.

Like most parades throughout the year, The Plaza Inn will offer a dining package with reserved viewing with a holiday themed menu.

The Plaza Inn Dining Package for the Christmas Fantasy Parade

So far no word on if the Plaza Inn Dining Package will return for 2021. We’ll keep this updated as we get more information.

  • Meal Options: Holiday menu of turkey, macaroni and cheese, seasonal vegetables, stuffing and cranberry sauce with a holiday dessert. Vegetarian options are also available upon request. Kids meals combine chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese with a choice of side, holiday dessert and a beverage.
  • Price: $39.99 per adult and $24.99 per child tax not included gratuity not required
  • Reservations made between 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM will receive a voucher for the days second performance of A Christmas Fantasy Parade

How Long Does Disney Decorate For Christmas

As mentioned, the holiday season at Disney World officially runs November 6 through December 31. However, the decorations do start going up in early November and stay up during early January. So, Disney decorates for well over 8 weeks for the holiday season. The vast majority of the holiday entertainment and special events also take place during this same time.

If you want to enjoy Christmas decorations at Disney but avoid some of the busiest days, plan to go at the start or end of the holiday season. Keep in mind that the decorations usually come down quicker than they are installed, so early November might be a better bet than January.

What Should I Do With My Poinsettia After Christmas

Toss the poinsettia when you grow tired of it or it becomes unattractive. For those home gardeners who enjoy a challenge, it is possible to get the poinsettia to bloom again next season. Cut the stems back to within 4 to 6 inches of the soil in March. The poinsettia may also be repotted at this time.

Visit Magic Kingdom And Epcot

There are four theme parks at Disney World, and the folks at Disney want you to think you need to visit all four on every trip.

But since park tickets are the single biggest expense of a trip, if you can limit your park days youll save substantial amounts of money!

While all of the parks are wonderfully decorated for the holidays, two are WAY over the top and shouldnt be missed.

If you are trying to visit on a budget, Id suggest limiting your park visits to just Magic Kingdom and Epcot. They both have tons of special happenings during the holidays and fantastic decorations.

Illuminations holiday ending, Epcot

Check out my overview of Epcots Festival of the Holidays here. The holiday food, Candlelight Processional, and special ending to Illuminations are fantastic.

So to save hundreds, I suggest skipping Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom on your Disney World Christmas trip.

How Often Is There Snow On Christmas

Since 1960, around half of the years have seen at least 5% of the network record snow falling on Christmas Day. This means we can probably expect more than half of all Christmas Days to be a white Christmas. However, the Dickensian scene of widespread snow lying on the ground on Christmas Day is much rarer.

How Long Does Disney World Keep Christmas Decorations Up

There is not necessarily a specific date when all the holiday decorations are removed. The decorations will come down gradually beginning in early January. Usually, the decorations in the theme parks remain until after the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. However, this year has been quite unusual!Oct 2, 2020

Yacht Club Resort Christmas Decorations

The nautical themed Christmas decorations at Disneys Yacht Club Resort are a fun twist. Boat ornaments, lots of blue hued lights, and traditional ornaments in blues and gold make the lobby Christmas tree unique to the Yacht Club theme. Just off to the side of the lobby is a Christmas village display with model trains running through the town.

Visiting Yacht and Beach Club to see the Christmas decorations is easy. These sister resorts are just a short walk from Epcots International Gateway and a Disney Skyliner stop.

Disney Christmas : What To Expect When Visiting

  • Pin

You may think that Disney Christmas 2020 is going to be a bummer! After visiting multiple times, I can tell you that this is 100% not true!

The holiday season always transforms Walt Disney World into a glistening and even more magical realm of wonder and merriment. In a normal year, I would tell you to read our guide on Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party, but this year is a little different!

Last year, Disney boosted up their usual decor and celebrations by increasing the Christmas tree trail at Disney Springs and adding holiday decor and entertainment to Disneys Animal Kingdom for the first time ever.

All of that is back for Christmas at Walt Disney World as Disney begins to welcome entertainment back to the parks and continues to elaborately decorate for that most wonderful time of the year. Make sure to check out 5 Things To Know Before Visiting Disney At Christmas

Capacity Is Limited During The Busiest Season

Disney World theme parks are currently operating with limited capacity to encourage physical distancing. The holidays, especially Christmas and New Years Eve, are a famously crowded time to visit. A few years ago, I visited the parks during New Years week, and on New Years Eve, Epcot actually reached capacity, so it was packed, though we still had a blast dancing our way through World Showcase countries and counting down to midnight with fireworks. This year, there wont be any over-the-top fireworks shows, but the lowered capacity means guests can make the most of their holiday with shorter wait times, room to roam, and plenty of festive magic. Plus, there arent any FastPasses currently available, so guests dont have to stress about making it to each ride reservation on time, giving them more flexibility throughout the day.

Maximizing The Disney Very Merriest After Hours Party

You dont need to go to the after-hours holiday party at the Magic Kingdom to enjoy the holidays at Disney, but it is worth considering. Until the pandemic, this was known as Mickeys Christmas Party. This year it has evolved into Disney Very Merriest After Hours with later starting and ending times which comes with pros and cons. This party runs on select nights from Nov. 8 to Dec. 21 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Just having regular park admission tickets to the Magic Kingdom wont get you into the special evening party, as you have to leave the park before the party begins if you dont have a ticket to the shindig. So on that note, make your party night a day when you chill at the resort or explore Disney Springs before heading to the Magic Kingdom youll need your rest for the evenings activities. Tickets to the after-hours Christmas Party get you into the Magic Kingdom beginning at 7 p.m. The party officially starts at 9 p.m, giving you a few hours to enjoy rides without missing any of the themed party fun.

Disney Very Merriest After Hours includes treats passed out at designated spots around the Magic Kingdom. There are also special stage shows four times a night, 11:15 p.m. fireworks, two rounds of the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Club TInsel dance parties and more essentially it is the holidays on Mickey steroids.

Holiday Season At Magic Kingdom

Christmas at Magic Kingdom 2020 | Walt Disney World Holiday Decorations

The main focus of celebration in Magic Kingdom Park will be the Disney Very Merriest After Hours but the park will be fully decorated for all guests to enjoy along with plenty of holiday treats and merchandise to enjoy.

The special holiday projections from last year will return on most nights on Cinderella Castle, alternating periodically with the castles transformation into a Beacon of Magic for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort.

Where To Meet Santa At Disneyland Christmas

It’s likely that this year’s 2021 Disneyland holiday celebration will do a distanced meet and greet for Santa. The good news about this is there won’t be a long line to meet him!

And of course, you can’t have a complete Christmas at Disneyland without a meeting with Santa! You can find Santa and his elves in an elaborate photo op set up throughout the day in Critter Country in Disneyland Park and Redwood Creek Trail in California Adventure.

I recommend you check the Disneyland phone app for times. This character meet and greet is quite popular, for good reason, so make sure to line up early.

I preferred the area in Redwood Creek Trail for taking my son to see Santa because I found the photo area to be more elaborate. It was also fun enjoying the area while we waited too. My tip for taking kids to see Santa is to do this first thing in the morning right when Santa makes his first appearance. This way everyone is looking fresh and kids are happy so you will get the best pictures. Don’t save the meet and greet with Santa towards the end of the day when everyone’s exhausted!

You can see the photo area for the Redwood Creek Trail above from my son’s last meet and greet with Santa. The PhotoPass photographers will also take a photo with your camera too if you ask them!

I loved the charm of meeting Santa here over the one in Disneyland, I highly recommend it.
