Finding Santa at Disney World for Christmas 2021
Be on the lookout for Santa during Disney World holiday events! He or his stand-in, Santa Goofy, will make special appearances starting Nov. 12 through the end of December. From afar, Santa will cruise in a red convertible down Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and voyage across Discovery River in a festive flotilla at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Meanwhile, at Magic Kingdom , EPCOT and Disney Springs, guests will get a chance to have individualized time from a distance to wave hello to Santa and share what they want for Christmas .
Once you make your list and check it twice , keep an eye out for delicious seasonal food offerings and adorable merchandise that can be found all around Walt Disney World Resort.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Decorations
At the Animal Kingdom Lodge of Disney, also known as the Wilderness Lodge, there are spectacular, massive Christmas trees you must take a selfie with!

When Does Disney Start Decorating For Christmas At Epcot
EPCOT is the last park to receive its 2021 Disney World Christmas decorations makeover. However they make up for it with their popular Festival of the Holidays and Candle Light Processional.
EPCOT officially starts to celebrate the holiday season towards the last few days of November. The main reason being that Disney waits until the EPCOT food and Wine Festivalto end before decorating. Its important to note that its going to be an interesting year for Disney Christmas decorations at EPCOT. As many of you know, the park has a ton of construction going on. The Magic Kingdom For The Holidays
Our favorite decorations are in the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World truly goes all out- even the popcorn courts are decked with holiday decor. They dont just add poinsettias to the planters. Instead, they fill them with hundreds of poinsettias.
Walking down the middle of Main Street is a magical experience. If you spend time on Main Street USA during Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party, you will experience snowfall . Every inch of every building has some festive greenery, bows, or lights.
If youve never seen a Walt Disney World Christmas tree, it is truly a sight to behold! Each theme park and resorts features unique trees that are giant, reaching heights of 70 feet. The ornaments, garlands, lights, and stars differ depending on the trees theme that varies by location.
The lamp posts along Main Street have a jolly Mickey Wreath. My children insisted on taking photos with these non-hidden Mickeys!
When Do Disney Hotels Decorate For Christmas
So now that we have covered all four theme parks, when do Disney Christmas light go up at the resorts?
Unfortunately there is no set order when it comes to the Disney putting Christmas decorations up at the hotels. We can say that all hotels receive their decorations within the last two weeks of November.
So if you plan on resort hopping to see all of the Disney World Christmas decorations make sure you visit in December! And the truth is we highly recommend visiting the hotels if you love Christmas. The imagination and creativity that goes into decorating the Disney world Resort hotels is amazing.

Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A. transformed as Halloween comes to a close
Walt Disney World shared a video of Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A. being transformed after Halloween. The street is now filled with festive decor and special touches of EARisdesence to honor the resort’s 50th anniversary celebration. The holiday season officially begins at the parks on Nov. 12.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – It is officially November and Christmas decorations are going up at Walt Disney World.
Guests at Magic Kingdom noticed several changes when visiting on Monday.
“When we arrived at the park today and headed down Main Street, U.S.A., we noticed that the big and beautiful Christmas Tree arrived overnight,”Disney Food Blog wrote.

The tree features gold items with colored ornaments sprinkled throughout.

Then, along Main Street, U.S.A., pictures from the blog showed garlands, ornaments, and lights lining the buildings leading to Cinderella Castle.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
I must admit my bias Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favorite Disney resort, hands down. This one-of-a-kind resort is home to beautiful African animals as well as a massive collection of African art and artifacts.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge were designed by the same architect. So they both have jaw-dropping lobbies. Jambo House is the main building of Animal Kingdom Lodge and has an incredible, warmly lit Christmas tree. You can sometimes find a gingerbread or chocolate village here, near the BOMA Flavors of Africa restaurant. There are two fire pits here too, one indoors and one outdoors. Either one is perfect for snuggling with your sweetheart.
While you’re here you can also walk over, or take a complimentary van, to Kidani Village. This is the second building at the resort, built a few years after Jambo House.
Best Time To Visit Walt Disney World Resort During The Holidays
Before we dive into the merriment, let’s start with perhaps the most important topic: The best time to visit during Christmas at Disney World. Many people plan their visits to Disney World at Christmas years in advance. The 2020 season was, ahem, special, to put it mildly, and while many people who had already planned trips had decided “not this year,” many are now thinking “let’s go to Disney World!” We highly recommend you start thinking about purchasing tickets and reserving Disney Park Pass reservations as soon as you’re able when it comes to the holiday season! While capacity is increasing, park pass reservations are here to stay, so you will need to pick which park you’ll visit each day of your trip ahead of time.
In general, we think any time you can visit Disney World is a good time to visit Disney World. We’re always excited when we’ve got our bags packed and are headed to the Most Magical Place on Earth. However, there are better times to visit than others during the holiday season. The busiest days of the year hoppen around Disney World holidays. In terms of crowds, here are the busiest days of the season:
- The week of Thanksgiving, including Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving
- The week of Christmas, including Christmas Day
- The week of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

Bonus: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground
If you want a special Disney date, venture over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. You can use transportation from one of the four Disney theme parks, though Magic Kingdom is the most fun thanks to the boat transportation.
Once at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground you can board a bus that runs through the resort. The closer you get to Christmas the more decked out the resort is, but not by Disney. Guests of the campground often decorate their campsite for the holidays. The displays are always impressive.

Did you know there are 25 Walt Disney World Cast Members who work all year round on all of the 2021 Disney Christmas decorations found on property. With that much detail going into each holiday display its no surprise it takes almost the entire month of November to decorate the entire property for Christmas.
The attention to detail does not go unnoticed with guests from all over the world coming to Orlando simply to see the 2021 Walt Disney World holiday decorations. And who can blame them, because there really is something so magical about Walt Disney World during the Christmas.Its also important to point out that although it takes the entire month of November to decorate the entire property but you CAN celebrate sooner in the theme parks!

For those who havent had the chance to experience the magic of the holidays at Disney World, we are happy to report that yes, theres a sleighful of Christmas decorations at Disney! In fact, as far as were concerned, the holiday season is one of the absolute best times to visit Walt Disney World, and thats largely thanks to the festive decorations.
Disneys Christmas decorating schedule typically runs like clockwork from year to year, meaning youll have no problem scheduling a trip while the Disney park ornaments and hotel decorations are up. What Special Events Go On During The Holidays At Disney World
Theres actually a lot of special events that take place during the season of Christmas at Disney World.
Here is a quick overview:
- Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom is unfortunately not happening in 2020 due to health restrictions.
- There will be lots of pop-up parades and flotillas with characters in their holiday outfits in all four parks!
- Santa will be making pop-up appearances at all four theme parks and Disney Springs this year.
- Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs will be modified this year with trees spread around Disney Springs. They should be up by mid-November.

Is Disney Decorated For Christmas In January
Typically, January is the month of the holiday hangover at Walt Disney World. Some Christmas entertainment continues for a few days in early January, and there are still decorations up for the first half of the month. As such, there are a lot of upsides to visiting in January, from light crowds to favorable weather.

Disneyland Christmas 2021 Dcor
There are plenty of amazing spots around Disneyland to enjoy the holiday decor but the decorations on Main Street, U.S.A. are breathtaking. As you enter the park, right in front of the train station, you will see the gigantic 60 foot Christmas tree in Town Square.
Make sure to spend some time admiring the tree as you take in all the custom made ornaments.
Every year the tree is decked out in custom ornaments from top to bottom.
Don’t forget to get your picture taken in front of the beautiful Disneyland Christmas tree on Main Street. There is usually a line for this but it’s worth it. Ask your if they have any holiday Magic Shots to add! As you can see above, we got Zero added to our picture on our last trip and it ended up being my favorite picture from our entire trip. Plus you get that high quality photo of the tree behind you that a cellphone could never do justice for.
New Orleans Square is another great spot to find beautiful holiday decor. The decorations are bright and festive.
The charm of this area really sparkles with some added festivities.
You can also find Christmas decor in Toontown.
Take some time to look closely at the garland, it definitely embodies the cartoon vibe just in the same way the decor in New Orleans Square is inspired by the spirit of jazz.

Just like you dont need to go to the theme parks to experience the Disney magic, you also dont need a park ticket to enjoy the wonderful world of Disney at Christmas. Much like the rest of the resort, hotels at Disney World also get a midnight visit from a pack of elves brandishing garlands and glue guns .
While all of the Disney hotels get dressed up for the holidays in specially themed trappings, even the value resorts, the best Disney World hotel Christmas decorations can be found at the deluxe and a few of the moderate resorts. Along with massive Christmas trees, youll also find such jolly seasonal offerings as gingerbread displays and Christmas villages.
