Combined With Open Shelving
This kitchen has cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling, and while thats nice in terms of storage, its also kind of boring to look at. Depending on your kitchens layout, it also has the potential to make the space feel cluttered and cramped.
So, if you dont have any space over the kitchen cabinets, consider sacrificing one to create some open space. You can then hang some floating shelves, with the bottom few still providing storage, and the top sitting at the same level as about halfway up of the cabinets.
Items To Fill In The High Space
Having high ceilings in the kitchen could bring more space to the room and create a nice circulation. It is also one of the tricks to make the place look bigger.
Those who have enough space between kitchen cabinets and ceiling can place some tall ceramic art like a vase or a statue on top. This additional decor will create a modern feel inside.

I mentioned when I shared my 2016 plans for the blog that I would be starting a design dilemma series this year. Over the years since Ive been blogging Ive had the honor of fielding a number of design related questions from sweet readers. Its always such a compliment to me that any of you would seek my advice. Truly, your emails pretty much make my day. As Ive mentioned multiple times, Im not an expert, not a designer, just a design-obsessed girl with a passion for creating stylish, livable spaces, so the fact that you take the time to message me for help feels really special.
I think sometimes we just need a second opinion or a sounding board to help us flush out our ideas and arrive at a conclusion. Today were discussing the age old question of.

Were not talking kitchen cabinets were talking tv cabinets, armoires and other tall pieces of furniture.
Specifically, a lovely reader, who is working on pulling her family living space together, is having trouble figuring out what to do with the space above her television cabinet.

If youre wondering how to decorate the top of cabinets, the answer is with whatever decoration is pleasing to you. The things that bring you joy to look at should be your main consideration, but there are some tips for making your over the cabinet décor ideas as aesthetic as possible .
First, think about spacing. More space and less objects is key to a pleasant aesthetic, especially if youre decorating the top of kitchen cabinetry, as kitchens already have a lot going on from stove to fridge to sink and everything in between. This means that two or three objects should be all you need over one cabinet try a vase + a wine rack, for example .
Secondly, remember the three rules of décor: plants, plants, plants! Whether faux or real, leaves, branches and even petals add texture, life, color and dimension, without taking up a lot of space. They are also easy to bend and arrange, so that you can make them fit into whatever nook and cranny you need to fill. For the top of cabinets, a vase or planter with blooms is the perfect touch.
