Increase The Sim’s Reputation
As well as doing their work the best they can, interior decorators can also advance their careers by increasing their reputation. Once they’ve been promoted enough times, they can use social media to achieve this.
Sims can also write design books to get their name out there, which, in return, will bring more clients to them. A good reputation is important for a freelancer, and the interior decorator is no exception.
About The Interior Decorator Career In The Sims 4
The Interior Decorator career is a profession, or active career, in The Sims 4 . This means that you have the option to accompany your Sims to their place of work and control their actions throughout the work day. It also means that there are no branching career paths: instead, all Interior Decorators advance through the same ten promotion levels.
If you also own Discover University, unfortunately Interior Decorator doesn’t show up as a benefited career under any of the degrees yet. However, we’ve seen this happen before with new careers, so it’ll probably be implemented in an upcoming patch. It’s a safe bet it’ll be either Art History or Fine Art .
Review: The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator Is Ea’s Trading Spaces Could Help Revive Whims
Two neighbors, two days and a budget of a thousand dollars.
These were the starting stipulations when TLC’s “Trading Spaces” first began airing in 2000. Over time, the budget changed, but the room renovating concepts stayed the same.
When I began playing The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator Game Pack, the hit television series immediately came to mind. It was a favorite of my mom’s “Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls” on Discovery Kids was a personal favorite of mine. Though, there are some exceptions and differences between the show and the Game Pack.
Unless you live in the same neighborhood as your clients, you won’t be trading spaces with them like in the shows. Your Sim is the sole decorator in the entire game. Literally. While you can travel to plenty of lots and recreate them to your heart’s content, there’s no way for your controlled Sim to hire an NPC Interior Decorator themselves, either by phone or by using the laptop.
Unlike “Trading Spaces,” budgets vary depending on your gig but, because you’re making entirely new rooms and levels, it’s easy to extend the budgets by selling the items that already exist in the home you’re renovating. Depending on styles and items, staying within budget on renovations is easy as going over budget will upset your clients.

Taking Before Photos In The Interior Designer Career
After your clients have given you the information you need you can click on one of them and choose the‘send client away’ option. This will allow you to proceed to the next task, taking before photos.
Remember to take before photos before you enter build mode!
To take photos you can and navigate to the option through the career menu. You can also choose a camera or your phone as you would normally. Finally, you can actually in the room you want to photograph and select the option from a pop-up menu.
You can take as many or as few photos as you like. These will be used to form a slideshow at the end of the job when you can match them up to after photos.
Because you will be using them for comparison the easiest way to cover everything is to take one from each corner of the room.
The camera is easier to navigate than usual and the photos will look reasonable in-game where they are quite small. However, it’s worth noting that when viewed from your screenshots folder they can often look distorted due to the angle, especially if you have a widescreen monitor.
The camera has also been adjusted so that you can more freely move around, allowing you to stand in one place and zoom out to take both interior and exterior shots without moving. This doesn’t always work but appears to be the case for level extensions.
Take Before And After Photos
A vital part of the job of an interior designer is to take before and after photos. It’s easy to forget this, especially if the Sim has only recently started working in this area. However, it’s an essential for happy clients.
Before the Sims make any changes to the client’s home and the player opens the build mode, they should take in-game pictures to be able to show the changes they made. For the same reason, the Sims should also take after photos in order to compare the before and after photos in a slideshow.

How To Join The Interior Decorator Career
There are several style and design-based careers in The Sims 4 now but the new Interior Decorator career is easy to find due to its inclusion in the active careers. When you search for a job using your phone or computer you’ll notice it’s the fourth option listed and has a color swatch icon. Simply select this option and you’ll enter the career.
It’s worth noting that while being an interior designer uses the same gig system as odd jobs and freelance careers it is a full ten-level career with promotions based on reputation and job performance.
How To Know Which Room To Renovate In Dream Home Decorator
Mostly the job will specify a room or say you can choose but this isn’t always the case. Some gigs do require some guesswork. For example, which kid’s bedroom do you decorate if there is more than one?
The Charm household from Realm of Magic also throws up some questions when they ask you to renovate the living room. Do they mean the small cozy space pictured above or the more open sitting space you see below?
In the case of the Charm’s, they were paying handsomely so we decided to take a chance and renovate both rooms. This paid off and they were happy. However, this is not always the case. Renovating the ‘wrong’ kid’s bedroom for the Spencer-Lewis household resulted in some bad rep and hate mail.
It seems that most clients will accept whichever room you decorate, as long as it can be used for that purpose. Sometimes you’ll get it wrong but this may not be down to choosing the incorrect room. Things can go wrong, even when you think you did everything right. This leads us to believe some reactions are as random as the likes and dislikes that Sims are assigned.

The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator Review A Lick Of Paint On A Tired Design
The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator Game Pack gives players who love to build and decorate the chance to turn their favorite part of the game into the motherlode of all Simoleons with the Interior Decorator active career.
The promise of being able to jazz up a clients home to their specific criteria and being rewarded for that is fantastic. Its appealing to many Simmers styles of play, and to the many content creators out there who like to build or share their creations with the world online.
Unfortunately, however, the fun quickly turns into the same, surface-level style of play fans of the series long to see changed.
Work On The Charisma Skill
The Charisma skill is one of the most important skills in the game, because it greatly improves social interaction between Sims. Being in a confident mood will make a Sim increase their Charisma skill much faster than usual, so try brushing teeth or giving oneself a pep talk to gain a Confident moodlet. A Sim can gain and improve the Charisma skill either by reading Charisma books or using the mirror to practice a speech.
A Sim with a high Charisma skill will find it much easier to communicate with their client and get to know them as well as their interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes much faster. This will prove useful because, as mentioned above, understanding a client’s tastes is important.
The Sims : Dream Home Decorator Review
The new Interior Decorator career in The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator is more interactive than ever and provides a little something for everyone, but it’s still a bit of a buggy mess. What this new pack lacks in gameplay, though, it makes up for it with beautiful furniture and build items.
The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator, the newest DLC for The Sims 4, lets you channel your inner HGTV host, fixing up other sims homes with lots of beautiful new furniture. This pack has a little something for every kind of Sims player. Whether you like to build or prefer to focus on gameplay, Dream Home Decorator offers a little of everything. I tend to spend most of my time building and creating elaborate backstories for sims I will never actually play, and this new DLC lets me do exactly that.
The new career offers a hands-on experience, and its incorporated into the gameplay really well. With most careers, you send your sim off for hours at a time to work at an undisclosed location. With the Interior Decorator and other active careers, you actually get to tag along with them at work and influence what they do. This feels necessary considering youll be building and redecorating peoples homes, but there is the option to send your sim alone if youre feeling burnt out and want them to deal with the clients for a change.
This review is based on the PC version of the Dream Home Decorator DLC. A review code was provided to us by Electronic Arts.
What Are The Gameplay Features
If youre wondering what comes with the The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator key package, then here are some of the major gameplay features you can expect in this DLC.
- A swarm of clients. In this The Sims 4 DLC, your job is to listen to the requirements of your clients, listen to their vision of the dream house they desire to have, and make these dreams come true with your creative skills
- Unleash your creativity. Start with a single room and finish the entire interior and exterior design – the whole house is the playground meant for your creativity and imagination to collab and realize the most intense customer demands
- The Big Reveal. When all the process is done and through, you finally can reach the final phase of the project called The Big Reveal. Although self-explanatory, this reveal is a marvelous part of this DLC as you get to see the excited reactions of your clients when you show the final version of their dream house that you helped to realize
- Cheap The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator price.

How To Discover Your Client’s Style And Color Preferences
When you first start the gig a task on your list is ‘get to know the client’ but despite the game suggesting it’s ‘optional’ it’s really not, at least not if you’d like to keep them happy. Talking to them will allow you to discover their likes and dislikes.
You can use the options‘ask about favorite color’ and ‘ask about favorite decor’ under the friendly interaction menu. There are also various other design-focused questions under the career sub-menu.
As you speak to clients you’ll notice that the boxes underneath the family name on your career tab will populate with the information you discover.
If you get lucky, as seen in the screenshot above, you’ll find out some color preferences as well as styles the clients love or hate. If you’re unlucky they’ll tell you they love to bake and hate handiness or something equally useless.
The Sims : Dream Home Decorator Origin Key

If creativity is what youre after, then buy The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator Origin key to unleash your inner artist and who knows, perhaps you will discover a talent for designing?

What Do You Want From Me
First things first, you need to speak to the clients to work out their likes and dislikes. Do they like colourful interiors? Are they looking for centrepiece furniture? Or do they want something a bit more understated?
Thats arguably the most important part of your job, because without knowing what they like, youre not going to produce a final product theyre happy with. Leave the client unhappy and youll be left without any money.
Once youve nailed down their likes and dislikes, you can send them away and get to work.
Youll be painting the walls, buying furniture to give new life to the room, and producing a work of art to a tight budget.
Youll have access to the existing suite of items and the huge collection of additional ones added alongside the Dream Home Decorator Pack. Theres a lot to choose from, so you really are free to express yourself with your renovation.
The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorating Pack Lets You Be An Interior Designer
EA and Maxis have unveiled the Dream Home Decorator Pack for The Sims 4, which will hit PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on June 1.
On June 1, Electronic Arts and Maxis will release the Dream Home Decorator Pack for The Sims 4, which allows players to transform their Sims into interior designers. The announcement follows Maxiss reveal of the Summer of Sims roadmap, an outline that showcased the content that will make it to the title during May, June, and July.
Upcoming releases include an expansion pack that allows Sims to explore their bond with Mother Nature in depth. The Maxis roadmap also showed plans for a virtual party during a big summer event that currently lacks concrete details. In addition, the development team is preparing three different waves of updates to the base game, although information on this front also remains scarce. Another important addition that will roll out this summer, a new career path, is just around the corner.

The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator Review
Over the years, the downloadable content for EAs latest entry in The Sims, their long running life simulation franchise, has developed somewhat of a poor reputation. Often associated with high prices, a lack of content, and an over-reliance on what the community terms rabbit holes, inaccessible portions of the map to which your characters must disappear for lengthy time periods, I expected this latest $19.99 game pack to be no different. However, a renewed focus on hands-on gameplay through an abundance of enjoyable activities, which all play to the existing strengths of the base game, elevates The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator far above the shortcomings of its predecessors.

Build/buy Mode Is Where Dream Home Decorator Excels
Despite a lackluster game mechanic, the dev team continues to deliver when it comes to its fantastic Create A Sim items and Build/Buy objects. Players are given the chance to experiment with new options, such as modular shelves and wardrobes to store items in and hang the new clothing rail item in, sectional couches, induction stovetops, and toaster ovens.

Though it can be argued that many of these items should already be a thing in the fourth iteration of the game, it is to be commended that the team is actively listening to feedback and attempting to continually rectify the limitations that players have .
The bulk of the items for furnishing in this pack take a twist on Mid-Century-Modern styles, but the team forgets to go that one step further by not creating fridges, sinks, and other elements that truly fit in with the aesthetic.
Note The Use Of The New Space
Most gigs will specify what the new floor should be used for. Take note of this and ensure that basic furniture for that purpose is present in your design.
Desks in offices, beds and dressers in bedrooms, toilet, sink and shower in bathrooms will all help you meet the criteria. Any extras are optional with maintaining the budget being preferred.
