Depending on where youre traveling from your experiences with holiday markets might be a little different compared to what youre gonna see in New York City. As a German expat living in New York, I found it very interesting that there are no such things as Glühwein or anything like that on the best Christmas Markets in NYC. Holiday markets in NYC mainly sell handmade goods, accessories and of course food. The Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park is one of the most famous markets in the city.
Another great holiday market in the city is the Columbus Circle Holiday Market. This one offers a romantic atmosphere with over 100-holiday booths .
A little more Downtown the Union Square Holiday Market has more of a European feel to it. More of how I remember holiday markets in Germany. Besides the 150 food vendors, New York artists are also stationed here and show off their skills .

Finally, every year the Empire Estate Building celebrates the holiday season with an elaborate light and music show. The shows theme changes every year, and production features top-notch performances by people like John Legend and Carrie Underwood.

I made it a mission to check out all the most instagrammable places in NYC during the holidays to see the Christmas trees and Christmas lights all over the city. So every winter I would walk around New York City to take photos of the Christmas decorations to add to this list.

Nyc Hotel Christmas Decorations
I love will be visiting NYC in December and would really love to take a few photos inside some of the best decorated hotels. Does anyone know if non-quests are allowed in the the lobbies? There is no place like NYC during Christmas so cannot wait for my trip. Thanks for any info.
As far as I know, no one’s going to stop you from going into any hotel lobby.
Well any decent hotel has a doorman and while they won t keep you out and will not stop you taking 1 or 2 photos – if you try to do more than that they may well ask you to stop. Their guests won’t want to be in your photos and if you’re not staying – or visiting a bar or whatever you are just clogging up the place.

Actually, only very high end famous places like the Plaza will stop you. The best way to do this is dress nicely and walk in like you belong there. ). If you get stopped say you,re coming in for a drink. Some of the best decorations

Radio City Music Hall is a city classic for locals and tourist alike. The Christmas Spectacular really is. It incorporates music, actors, 3D effects, live animals and those Rockettes, who really are impressive when they do that kickline. And its probably the most all-ages show ever created. Ive seen it as a kid, a college student and a grown-up and each time Ive walk out feeling ready for Christmas.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
This giant Christmas tree and its thousands of lights is one of the most iconic sights of NYC during the holidays.
The tree lighting ceremony takes place in late November and the tree stays lit until early January.

The shops on the street level of Rockefeller Center will also be festive. Check out the famed toy store FAO Schwarz.
