When my Dad turned 70 we wanted to have a special celebration. He didnt want anything elaborate for this milestone birthday so we decided to have an intimate family party. My Dad loves M& Ms so that became the theme for our family birthday party.

M & Ms are a fun party theme- the colors are bright and the shape is simple so its easy to make party decorations. Heres some ideas:

Use all different M& M colors for party ware. Mix the colors for plates, napkins, cups, table covers, etc. We put containers of mini M & Ms on each persons plate.

We made a huge poster imitating a bag of M & Ms. It was a fun idea and easy to make because- M & Ms are CIRCLES!! Use colored paper plates, write an “M” on them and attach to the wall or glue two plates together flat sides touching. When dry, punch a hole at the top edge of the plates. Use fishing line to hang them from the ceiling or use coordinating colors of curling ribbon.

Use any M& M decorations you can find. We found fun M & M helium balloons. M& M makes tons of fun things to decorate with. A great idea that was fun for our family party was the little plush M & M guys that you can see sitting on the table in the picture. We used them as prizes for the games and activities we had. Other fun prize ideas are small packages of M & M candy.

Coolest M& m Candy 2nd Birthday Party

“M& M Madness!” Birthday Cake

My two year old son loves M& Ms so we decided to have an M& M themed birthday party. I wanted to keep it simple but cute and colorful. After deciding on this theme, I went online to see what M& M themed birthday items I could find. I found almost nothing. So, my creative mind kicked in.

Invitation: I made my own invitations. I used cardstock paper and designed an M& M background. I printed out the words Cupcakes, Ice Cream, and Candy Treats. Were Celebrating the Birthday of a Boy so Sweet! on a white square and attached it with red ribbon. Below the words was a picture of my two year old. I requested on the bottom of the invite for guests to wear their favorite M& M color to the party.

Original M& M Party Decoration Ideas

I purchased dessert plates in all the M& M colors. I used my computer to print out 40 Ms in the M& M font and glued them to the plate. Yes, I printed and cut out all 40 of them! I glued several of them to dowels rods and stuck them along side our drive way so that guests could see them as they drove up to our house. I also stuck some in our bushes and an urn that sat beside the entrance door.

I also made cupcakes with bright yellow icing and placed some fondant M& Ms on them and placed them around the table. I wrapped the plastic ware in primary colored napkins and tied them with curly ribbon. I had two large glass vases filled with M& Ms on this table.
