If You Love Using Red At Christmas Youll Love This Inspiration For A Festive And Cheery Red And White Flocked Christmas Tree

Using red as part of my Christmas decorations is a must for my family and well as myself! The bright and cheery color brings a festive vibe to a space like no other.

If youve been around for a while, you may notice that I have a new Christmas tree in our family room this year. Its a perfectly shaped, perfectly full, perfectly sized, 7.5 foot flocked beauty.

When setting this tree up, I had an aha moment when it came to doing my least favorite part, which is fluffing the tree. Its too good not to share, so you can read all about my discovery HERE.

Our previous tree was also a gorgeous tree and there was nothing wrong with it, but it had a couple of big issues that I never was exceedingly happy about.

The old tree was 9 tall, which made it more difficult to decorate and called for more ornaments, etc. to properly fill the tree. I sure did get tired up climbing up and down that ladder every year!

My biggest issue with the tree was that it is a slim tree. I never felt that it properly filled the corner and nothing that I tried gave me the filled-up look I craved.

Usually I can point to one or two specific things that inspire the decor on my tree every year, but not this go-round. As I was out looking in the stores for inspiration, I ran across some adorable angel wings, in white washed wood and my imagination was immediately sparked!

This ribbon that I used is a nice 5 width, which really pops on the tree and adds lots of personality.

Red And Gold Christmas Tree And Mantle

Another great take on classic red and gold Christmas decor from First Day of Home.

This has a more country or rustic feel with the gold ribbon that almost looks like burlap, but when youve got some awesome red and gold ornaments, it doesnt have to be completely traditional in order for it to look good.

The wood trees on the mantle add a beautiful touch. Its a perfect blend of classic and simple without being too busy.

Red And White Kitchen

Red and white will easily turn your kitchen in a Christmas realm! Lay the table in red and white: make a red table runner with white snowflakes, red placemats or red and white tablecloths and napkins, cover the chairs with comfy and soft cushions. Take out red and white dishes, plates, mugs and tea sets for the party or just to display in the kitchen. Place red candle holders and red ornaments with names instead of place cards. Now hang a cool Christmas chandelier of fir branches and hang red felt ornaments or baubles on it. Treats in red and white are amazing, they arent only tasty, they will help you to decorate in red and white.

Choose The Right Tree Topper

A eye-catching Christmas tree topper is a beautiful way to complete the designer look of your tree. Make sure to choose one that best fits your theme and the proportion of your tree, and take into consideration the height of your ceiling too. You can also choose an alternative design, like a giant bow rather than a gold star, or you could make your own topper.

Red And White Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas From The Ribbon To The Ornaments How To Decorate The Perfect Tree

I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and do a more elaborate, red and white Christmas tree this year in our living room. Last year, I decorated our white Christmas tree with all white decorations. In 2014 and 2013, I put my colorful ornaments on the white tree, with nothing else. In 2012, I put my colorful ornaments on our green tree with some ribbon.

My green tree came out of hiding after using the white tree the past few years. I also switched up my color scheme again this year I went with red and white with touches of silver.

And here she is in all of her red and white glory.

I sold the idea to Brad by saying its our Indiana University-themed Christmas tree.

Its totally over the top for me, but I still love it. In fact, I had no idea what I was doing when it came to the top of the tree so I had to have my friend come over and help me because Id never shoved that much stuff into a Christmas tree.

Finish Off With A Tree Skirt

Often overlooked, a Christmas tree skirt is the finishing touch to your decorations and serves to balance the overall design of your Christmas tree. Tree skirts have many benefits too, from covering the unsightly ‘legs’, trunk or stand of a tree, to protecting your floors and carpets from any fallen pine needles .

It naturally draws attention to the tree’s lower portion and helps to produce a complete, harmonious look. Plus, it’s the perfect backdrop for beautifully wrapped Christmas presents. Alternatively, if you have a potted Christmas tree or one that comes in a basket, opt for a tree rug instead.

Red Gold And White Flocked Christmas Tree

Speaking of a full tree, this tree from The Woodgrain Cottage is drool worthy.

With her take on a red and gold Christmas tree, theres a lot of added elements in white which make the whole flocked tree pop. This tree feels super modern, but has an amazing nod to tradition as well.

I absolutely love the feel of this one. If you want to go completely red and gold, but with a little more modern flare, this tree is for you. Its not too over-the-top either which is what makes it so great.

Red White And Sparkle Christmas Tree

A Red, White and Natural Theme on a Snow Flocked Christmas Tree ...

What Balsam Hill tree did you decorate for this theme and how did you start decorating it?For this theme, I decorated the Silverado Slim. One of my favorite techniques when decorating trees is to start arranging ornaments and embellishments from the top going downwards.

What mix of ornaments was used? The Red, White and Sparkle Ornament Set was perfect for this theme, with its combination of different textures and shapes, in a classic color palette of red, silver, and white.

What embellishments did you add and what did you like most about them?I loved how well the accents complemented the color scheme. The Velvet Plum Blossom Picks, Iced Glitter Twig Picks, and Snowy Branch Picks worked beautifully, and also acted as filler wherever I noticed any areas that needed more decoration.

Were there any special techniques you used to pull off the distinctive look of the ribbons you used?I first layered two ribbons together, placing the Silver White Dupioni ribbon with Jewels over the Red Velvet Glitter Ribbon. I then shaped them by forming 4 tight loops, which I tied with floral wire. I secured a few more of these to the tree and added swaths of Platinum Mesh Ribbon for an eye-catching rippling effect.

First option is this show stopper from Craftberry Bush. She truly never disappoints, but when it came to her Christmas tree, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

If you were on the fence or hesitant in any way about the idea of having a red and gold Christmas tree, I love that by using an additional accent color, you can create the perfect blend of color without it being too much.

It almost has a vintage feel to me, which I looooove.

This is a classic look, but so very fresh and pretty with those pops of green throughout. Its absolute Christmas perfection!

DECORATING MY CHRISTMAS TREE / RED & WHITE /I FLOCKED MY TREE

As I mentioned above, this tree is in my family room. As Ive done the past two years, I went with a red-inspired look in this room. Maybe I will switch it up one of these years, but I just love how the red looks in this space. Its such a cozy and classic Christmas look. In previous years I did a nostalgia-inspired tree and last year was my Cozy Lodge Christmas tree.

This year, I went in a different direction and decided to focus on red and white.

Unfortunately, I dont have sources for all of the items that I used on my tree. However, I did link whatever I could at the end of this post including the tree, some of the ornaments, tree skirt, and more! I hope that its helpful!

Inspiration for this tree came from a few different places. First, I love many of the ornaments from Balsam Hills Nordic collection. I especially loved two of their Nordic Christmas Stockings from this collection which I have hanging on my mantel. These items inspired the look, but from there I made it my own.

When decorating a tree I always like to start with the ribbon. For this tree I used this Candy Cane Stripe Ribbon. Its beautiful and even has a little sparkle to the top of the ribbon. Every tree needs a little sparkle.

As you know I like a fully decorated tree, so with the ribbon in place, I just continued to add ornaments that fit into my color scheme. If I had to give a rough count, Id say there are over 250 ornaments on this tree not including the ribbon or garland.
