To be inspired, simply means that you are filled with the idea to do something. A few weeks ago, I felt like I was in a creative rut. Then, I woke up on Sunday morning and came across one of Joanna Gaines home videos on Instagram. Immediately, I felt inspired to create, to make something with whatever I already had and specifically, to set the table for Sunday dinner. This is my Joanna Gaines inspired table decor.

Is Farmhouse Going Out Of Style In 2022
I recently wrote a blog post about the biggest home decor trends of 2022, and one of the topics I touched on was whether farmhouse is going out of style. It was a small part of the post, but I get a ton of traffic to it from people looking for the answer to that question. So, I thought it deserved its own post.
If youre wondering whether farmhouse decor is out this year, the answer is yes and no.

Farmhouse design started becoming a huge decorating trend back around 2015, thanks in large part to Joanna Gaines and Fixer Upper. Its homey vibes and white-washed furniture felt like a fresh, less-frilly evolution from another super popular style at the time, the shabby chic/French country look, but which was characterized by ticking stripes, lots of burlap, ruffles, French antiques and traditional furniture. At the same time, it also had a rustic quality about it that tapped into two other super-popular styles from the early 2010s: country and industrial.
Basically, farmhouse design appealed to many of the people who liked the shabby chic, country, or industrial looks as a way to freshen up their homes, and it exploded. Cut to 2021. After six years of Gather signs and buffalo-check everything, the original farmhouse look, like French Country before it, is starting to feel a little tired. Its everywhere. You can find the style in Walmart, on Amazon, at Wayfair, at Serena & Lily.

The HGTV star doesnt limit her inventory to whats on hand. On most episodes of Fixer Upper, she also incorporates some antiques into the final design, which naturally lends a modern farmhouse look the series has become famous for.
She and Chip often film themselves shopping at local antique stores or rooting through Joannas personal stash of treasures shes been collecting over the years. Fixer Upper fans can achieve the same look by looking up resale stores in their towns and constantly checking back for new finds. Estate sales are another good option for finding cheap, previously owned décor items that would look right at home on Fixer Upper.
One of my favorite things to do is go antique shopping at off-the-beaten-path shops and flea markets. I always get inspired when I see pieces from the past, Joanna wrote on her blog .
They all have their own story and there is just something about a piece that isnt mass produced but one of a kind.

The Dining Room After The Renovation

I love how this windows weathered wood stands out in contrast to the freshly-painted wall. The window and wreath add dimension to the wall, which makes the room more warm and inviting.

We kept this rooms palette neutral, adding color through natural accents. We added texture and greenery on the wall with a faux magnolia wreath, filled a white vase with flowers on the mantel and added a pop of color on the table with a wooden tray covered in bright green pears.

I wish I had the courage to pick a colored glass backsplash! This is so contemporary and Im obsessed with the butcher block island.
Remember when Chip tried to put a coffee bar in this kitchen? Ive always loved the farmhouse sink, but the brick is next level country cottage chic! The antiquing on the island is perfection.
And here is the Gaines gorgeous kitchen at the farmhouse. Its so simple, clean, rustic, and chic! And was surprised to see they chose concrete counters, which we are doing on our counters surrounding the island.
Just may need to re-think that subway tile backsplash now.
