Joanna Gaines has used Alabaster so much its one of her favorite colors! Just look at those alabaster shiplap walls from Jojos work on the Harper House.

Several Edison Bulbs On a picturesque Aegean island, the kitchen s personalized island is in stainless steel, the sinks and also installations are by Marcel Wanders for Boffi, as well as the wall surface cupboards, counters, and also backsplash remain in Carrara marble. The ceiling is dressed in bamboo and also walnut, as well as the light a collection of Edison bulbs mounted out in a glass rectangle is customized.

Fill Walls With Vintage

Just like a blank canvas, the walls of your home come alive with the addition of art, signs, and decorative frames. Chip and Jo are really good about letting the walls of a home do the talking with artwork. Their family farmhouse, which you can see on , features plenty of personalized wall art that tells the home’s unique story. For example, the street signs hanging in the living room are from Chip and Jo’s honeymoon, while the clock art on the wall reminds Joanna to value the time she has at home with her family. Likewise, the wall art included in the couple’s “Fixer Upper” designs is all about personal expression and creating visual interest, per HGTV.

When selecting wall art for your home, trust your taste and think about what pieces speak to you. From framed family photos to artwork depicting your favorite city, there are plenty of ways to get inspiration. On a practical level, consider how specific pieces will tie in with the rest of a room’s decor and how much wall space is available. As long as you like it, that’s all that really matters.

Joanna Gaines Commented On My Post

The best part When I shared the pictures of my table, Joanna Gaines commented on my Instagram post! I was so excited that I took a screen shot her comment. This includes a list of ten inspiring tv shows scheduled for the new Magnolia Network later this year.

I wonder if Joanna Gaines knows that we live ten minutes apart, sit beside one another at the Baylor football games and often work within minutes of one another in downtown Waco. Im pretty sure that we could be best friends, lol. Until then, Ill find inspiration from afar.

Thank you for stopping by the blog! I hope you feel inspired to set the table for your next big or small celebration. Even if its just for Sunday dinner.

Upcycle Instead Of Buying New

Most episodes include at least one trip to an antique store because Gaines is a big fan of bringing new life to an old find. Whether you scour yard sales in search of the perfect buffet to refinish or you simply repaint and repurpose a piece you already own, upcycling furniture and accessories is a great way to save money and add character to your project. Its also less wasteful and helps to keep old furniture from getting tossed in the trash.

Use A Looooong Centerpiece

Often, the go-to centerpiece is one big bouquet in the center of a table, but if youre at a rectangular table, that can leave the sides a little bare. So unless youre planning to serve family-style and need the space, use a runner or a bunch of branches all the way down the table to spread out the tablescape magic.

Head To Your Local Flea Market

What Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Gorgeous Home Really Looks Like

From up-cycled wooden ladders to artfully dated glass windows, Gaines is an expert at flea market style. Per HGTV, Gaines decorates with many thrift store finds and antiqued items in her “Fixer Upper” homes, to stunning effect. Next time you go treasure hunting at your local flea market, keep an eye out for wooden crates, toolboxes, watering cans, glass jars, and old books. These pieces can generally be found at flea markets worldwide and are sure to add some “Fixer Upper” style to your home.

For Gaines-approved antiques, be on the lookout for vintage chairs with beautiful lines and good bones, as seen on . Even if fabric is ripped, stained, or outdated, you can re-upholster the furniture and give it a modern pick-me-up. According to Architectural Digest, re-covering furniture is simple, and the only thing you need is a staple gun. It just takes a few antique items to give your home a healthy dose of charm and character.

Modern Dining Room With Stylish Elegant Design

The rustic table is accented by metal chairs and a modern centerpiece and lit by a modern chandelier, giving this dining room space a rustic, modern design that complements that of the adjacent kitchen. A gallery wall behind the table gives the space a focal point, while the striped rug beneath the table helps make this otherwise formal dining area a bit more casual.

Go Crazy With Subway Tiles

According to HGTV, white subway tiles are Chip and Joanna’s material of choice for kitchen backsplashes. This tile can be glimpsed in many of their “Fixer Upper” remodels, per , and for a good reason. These rectangular, glazed ceramic tiles are timeless and versatile, making them perfect for most homes. Not only is the material sanitary since it can be easily cleaned, but the polished, glossy finish will brighten up your kitchen and make it a more welcoming place to hang out and cook.

As you might have guessed, subway tiles were originally used in the New York City subway system . The first station, which opened in 1904, featured the classic 3″ by 6″ tiles. Today, these tiles are a popular interior design trend and come in an endless array of colors and patterns. According to This Old House, prices per square foot start around $2 and can cost up to $50. To ensure you stay within budget, measure your space before starting the project.

Choose A Neutral Color Palette

If you think neutral colors are boring, think again. Choosing a neutral color for your walls is the perfect way to let interior decorations and accessories shine, according to HGTV. Gaines favors white, gray, and blue shades in her Fixer Upper designs since these create a welcoming environment and allow her style to pop . Lighter neutrals can make your space look larger, while darker shades provide a relaxed and cozy feel.

To create a neutral color scheme for your home, aim to combine light and dark neutrals. According to The Spruce, darker neutrals such as charcoal, black, navy, and deep brown are best paired with lighter neutrals with the same tones. For example, a warm, dark gold will look great with warm, soft neutrals. Another tip is to choose your favorite color and then create a monochromatic palette using darker and lighter shades.

Fixer Upper Modern Farmhouse White Kitchen Ideas

The Harp house is one of my all-time favorites on the show. I love this huge pantry and custom reclaimed wood island created by the owner of the house and Joannas top carpenter Clint Harp.

Holy light fixtures! This is such an amazing statement in the kitchen.

Ive never been a huge fan of open shelving, but this backsplash in the Childress house is beautiful!

Once again I love the light fixtures and the accent of the hood. So quaint and clean, especially with that wood beam!

This kitchen is a dream! The warm custom wood elements balanced with the clean tile and cabinets are so pretty.

I love the darker countertops here juxtaposed with the elegant light fixtures and antique scale. So light and airy!

I wish I had the courage to pick a colored glass backsplash! This is so contemporary and Im obsessed with the butcher block island.

Remember when Chip tried to put a coffee bar in this kitchen? Ive always loved the farmhouse sink, but the brick is next level country cottage chic! The antiquing on the island is perfection.

And here is the Gaines gorgeous kitchen at the farmhouse. Its so simple, clean, rustic, and chic! And was surprised to see they chose concrete counters, which we are doing on our counters surrounding the island.

Just may need to re-think that subway tile backsplash now.

Be Open To Open Shelving

Open shelving is a great way to showcase your unique personality in the kitchen. Unlike traditional wall cabinets, these open shelves put everything on display, making it easy to access items and save some space. Gaines is definitely a fan of the look, incorporating many open shelving concepts into her “Fixer Upper” designs, per . In her Magnolia blog, the designer says that open shelving adds dimension to any room and can help create better organization.

However, before installing open shelving in your kitchen, there are some downsides to consider. Be careful not to overload shelves since they can quickly appear cluttered and disorganized. Unlike regular cabinets, you can’t just close a door on your messy Tupperware collection. To avoid dust, it’s best to put the dishes or items you frequently use on lower shelves, per Merry Maids. Since you are moving them in and out daily, you will not have to worry about dust building up. You can store decorative items like plants, cookbooks, and glass jars on the upper shelves.

Say It Right With Word Art

Inspirational or funny it doesnt matter, as long as your mantra is displayed loudly and proudly to help start your day off with a smile. Gaines is notorious for finding the perfect message to add personality to a space. Just a word of caution: Less is more applies here, too. Dont fill every room with word art, or people will get confused. Focus on the one message that best fits your family.

Add Some Open Shelving

Fixer Upper

Take a look through most of Gaines kitchens, and youll notice a common theme: open shelving. Consider replacing some of your cabinets with solid wood shelves and displaying your most beautiful dishes as part of your kitchen decor. It makes accessing dishware easier and forces you to stay organized, too. Youll be a lot less likely to keep unnecessary items and let the clutter take over if the whole world can see it.

Install Some Rustic Barn Doors

Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines Traditional Traditional Dining Room with ...

Since Fixer Upper arrived on the scene in 2013, sliding barn doors have caught on in the world of home design. Whether you own a barn or not, this rustic element is a relatively simple and affordable way to add architectural interest to your home. Gaines often uses interior barn doors in her home designs to separate rooms and add character, as seen on . Unlike traditional doors, barn doors are hung on a sliding rack and hang against the wall. They take up minimal space and can be easily installed .

One thing to keep in mind before going barn door crazy is that these doors are typically not soundproof and offer less privacy than traditional alternatives. According to Apartment Therapy, noise travels easily between rooms which can be uncomfortable if you use them for places like your bathroom. Its a good idea to add a sliding latch to keep doors secure.

Get the Look:

What Im drawn to the most about each of these dining rooms it that theyre all very simple, but in the most beautiful way. Nothing is overcrowded or cluttered, its just clean and pretty. Your eye tends to focus most on the chandelier, dining table, and chairs. Nothing else is really competing for attentionsomething about that is very appealing to me. Definitely the inspiration I needed for our new dining roomwhich I will be sharing very soon!

The Dining Room After The Renovation

As seen on Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna have updated the dining room with a new redwood mantel, farm table, dark metal chandelier and black accents that offer a contrast against the white brick.

Want to recreate this room at home? Here are 3 tips to get the look.

Add Architectural Interest

You dont need a large-scale art piece to make a big impact. Head to a salvage yard to find an old architectural piece, like the window frame on this wall, for the rooms focal point. I love how this windows weathered wood stands out in contrast to the freshly-painted wall. The window and wreath add dimension to the wall, which makes the room more warm and inviting.

Add Color, Naturally

We kept this rooms palette neutral, adding color through natural accents. We added texture and greenery on the wall with a faux magnolia wreath, filled a white vase with flowers on the mantel and added a pop of color on the table with a wooden tray covered in bright green pears.
