Things To Do Before Sticking Paper To The Wall
- Make sure you have cleaned your wall. Use rubbing alcohol to remove dirt, grease, and grime. Then, wipe down the walls with a clean white cloth. Make sure there is no dust on your surface before applying any decorations to the walls.
- Pick an appropriate adhesive for the type of wall you have.
- Not all adhesives work on every type of surface. Apply putty or washi tape only to clean surfaces and make sure they are completely dry before adding your decorations.
- Wash and dry your hands so the adhesive doesnt stick to your fingers.
- If youre making corn flour paste, mix the ingredients at least 15 minutes before to let it cool down before applying.

Using nails and tacks comes with problems too, leaving holes and marks on otherwise pristine walls, and once youve seen them it is hard not to notice them every time you walk by.

These heavy-duty options are required when, for example, hanging pegboard, corkboard displays, or any mounting where the backing remains but the decor is changeable. When properly installed, permanent hardware can provide a secure connection without defacing the wall.
For solid brick walls, pre-drill into the mortar lines with a masonry drill bit and install masonry hardware such as Tapcon screws. Hollow walls, such as drywall, paneling, or concrete blocks, require wall anchors with the appropriate weight rating.
While there are certain situations that require traditional fasteners, it is possible to create a festive and unique holiday atmosphere without depending on any hardware.
