Wayne, NJ,July 23, 2015Atlanta-based Floor & Décor is opening its first New Jerseystore in Wayne, New Jersey.
The newlocation will occupy a 90,000-square-foot space formerly inhabited by Costco,according to NorthJersey.com.

On July 27, the specialty hard-surface flooring retailer plans to open its latest location in Commack, N.Y. on Long Island.
The 95,000 square-foot Floor & Decor warehouse store and design center will open with a team of about 50 full-time and part-time associates led by Kirk Zinner, the new stores chief executive merchant.

The Yonkers Store Would Be Floor & Decor’s First Outlet In New York The Closest Outlet To The Lower Hudson Valley Is In Wayne Nj
The Floor & Decor retailer is proposing to open on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers.
Floor & Decor Outlets of America, Inc. wants to convert an empty Pathmark supermarket at 2540 Central Park Ave. and build an 11,282-square-foot-addition in the rear of the existing building, which sits behind row of stores in the Yonkers Gateway Plaza. Other national retailers at the strip mall include a Best Buy and a Burlington Coat Factory.
Floor & Decor is a hard surface flooring retailer with 61 stores in 31 metropolitan markets, according to its site-plan application filed with the Yonkers Planning Board. The company is projecting $15 million to $20 million in annual sales from the Yonkers store.
The total estimated cost of acquiring the former supermarket and converting it is $2.2 million. The retailer expects to hire 50 new employees, with 35 part-time and 15 full-time.
The Yonkers store would be Floor & Decor’s first outlet in New York. The closest outlet to the Lower Hudson Valley is in Wayne, N.J.
The Planning Board is scheduled to begin its review of Floor & Decor’s application at its Wednesday meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall.
Planning officials are also expected to begin their review of an application to build three fast-food restaurants at 1111 Central Park Ave., the site of the defunct Boulder Creek Steakhouse. 1111 CP Ave. LLC of New York City wants to buy the property from Yonkers Property of New York LLC in Melville, NY, and demolish the existing restaurant.

The 60,179 square foot store, located in a former Sports Authority building at 50 A& S Drive, just west of Paramus Park mall, opened this week, two years after Floor & Decor opened its first New Jersey store, in Wayne.
The second Floor & Decor in New Jersey opened in Moorestown, in Burlington County, in the fall of 2016.
Floor & Decor sells hard-surface floor covering, such as wood floors and tiles, but no carpeting or rugs. It also sells tile and stone for kitchens, bathrooms.

The Floor & Decor business strategy is to have a greater selection, and lower prices, than the competition. Local store managers are allowed to select merchandise that meets the decorating tastes and demands of the areas where they are located.

Floor & Decor has grown rapidly since it was founded in 2000, opening more than 50 stores in the first 15 years in business. The company went public in April and trades on the New York Stock Exchange as FND.
