ATLANTA, March 07, 2022—-Floor & Decor , a leading specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring, will expand its nationwide footprint when it opens the doors to its newest location in Garden City, New York on March 14, 2022. The 75,000 square-foot Floor & Decor warehouse store and design center will open with a team of about 50 full-time and part-time associates led by Franklin Guardarrama, the new stores Chief Executive Merchant.

Floor & Dcor To Open Two Stores Totaling 154000 Sf In Connecticut

DANBURY AND FAIRFIELD, CONN. Floor & Décor will open its first two stores in Connecticut during the first half of 2021 when the home improvement retailer rolls out a 74,000-square-foot store in Danbury and an 80,000-square-foot store in Fairfield. In Danbury, Floor & Décor purchased a 150,000-square-foot building that formerly housed Pilgrim Furniture and Bobs Stores. In Fairfield, the company will backfill a space formerly occupied by Kohls. Grocer Aldi will share the backfilled space with Floor & Décor. Brian Katz of Katz & Associates represented the retailer in both deals.

The Shopping Center On Sunrise Highway Has Been Partly Empty But New Construction Has Started On At Least One Vacant Retail Space

BOHEMIA, NY The shuttered Kmart shopping center on Sunrise Highway in Bohemia may soon see some new life. The largely vacant strip mall was anchored by Kmart and Sports Authority until last year when the stores closed as part of large contractions of those chains. Now a new warehouse store from Floor & Decor is in the works.

A representative from Islip Town confirmed to Patch that a building permit was issued in March to Floor & Decor to begin work on the closed Kmart, at 5151 Sunrise Highway.

Work on the location is already underway, but Floor & Decor declined to comment on an opening date or store details. The company, based in Georgia, sells hard-surface flooring materials. There is another Floor & Decor location in Farmingdale.

Newsday: Aldi At Home Floor & Decor Making Plans For Bohemia Stores

Home décor retailer At Home is planning its entrance onto Long Island, while discount grocer Aldi and flooring chain Floor & Decor have local expansions in their sights.

All three are planning new stores in the 5000 block of Sunrise Highway, in Sayville Plaza in Bohemia, according to the town of Islip. The shopping center has been plagued by large-space vacancies in recent years, after tenants left due to the demise, bankruptcies or mergers of their parent companies.

Kmart, which closed in February 2020, left a huge hole 110,000 square feet that is expected to be divvied up by the new stores.

Floor & Decor, which has coming soon signs outside of its Sayville Plaza building, is the only retailer confirming its impending arrival.

A new Floor & Decor store opens Tuesday in Commack.

The flooring and home improvement chain signed a 15-year lease for the 90,705-square-foot space at 4 Henry St. in the Commack South Shopping Center.

The Floor & Decor space was carved out of the 140,000-square-foot former Target store, which closed in Feb. 2019.

The landlord, Cosentino Realty Group, had initially planned to lease the Commack space to Lifetime Fitness. However, when the pandemic hit, the chain wanted to wait a year to start construction and the shopping center owner made the deal with Floor & Decor instead.

This will be the second Long Island location for Floor & Decor, following one that opened in Farmingdale in 2019. The chain is currently building a third Long Island location at the former Kmart store in Sayville Plaza on Sunrise Highway in Bohemia.

The Commack Floor & Decor store will be giving away a $5,000 floor makeover as part of its grand opening festivities. From July 27 through August 26, customers will have the chance to register to win a $5,000 Floor & Decor gift card.
