Your design style will evolve over time based on your life experiences, current design trends, phase of life, etc. So what you might choose today might not be what you would have chosen 10 years ago, or even what youll choose 2 years from now!
You can have multiple styles and they can all work together harmoniously. Now you might think that multiple styles automatically equate to an Eclectic vibe, but thats not necessarily true. For instance, Traditional and Rustic live harmoniously but wouldnt be considered Eclectic.

The southwestern style as we know it today is not the same as it was when it first became noticeable in the design world. And it will continue evolving as the years pass by. Contemporary design style is often confused with modern design style usually references to modern are in fact contemporary design.

Its Unlikely You Have Just One Style
For a long time, I also had difficulty when it came to categorizing my style. In the end, I just invented my own. The thing is, I dont actually believe that most people fit into one neat little category in any part of life, and interior decorating style is no exception. At this point, I wouldnt box myself into something like Farmhouse without leaving the door open to other styles. My decor has always been a blend, and its likely yours is, too!
Thats why if you end up taking the quiz attached to this post, youll find my six design archetypes to be a little looser than the classic style definitions. Theres some overlap, and some things will fit, while others wont. My advice is to take what applies to you, what you like, and leave the rest. Its just my interpretation and mostly for fun.

Head on over to your local home improvement store and peruse the paint chip aisle. Pick out colors that you are immediately drawn to without second-guessing yourself. See if those colors form a palette that works well together. Notice youre only picking out pastels? Maybe you trend Coastal or Boho. Bold rich hues? You might be Hollywood Glam or Traditional. How To Find Your Unique & Personal Interior Design Style
For me, asking me to pick what my favorite interior design style is like asking me to choose my favorite pet I just cant do it! I love so many different things about so many different home design and decor styles. I adore the clean-ness of Scandinavian and Minimalist styles, love the colors and whimsy of Boho, feel so cozy looking at Traditional and English Countryside styles, obsess over the rustic-ness and homeyness of Farmhouse, and love the lines of Modern and Mid-Century furniture. How does one pick??
While its absolutely possible to combine multiple design styles to create your own eclectic mix, however if you dont set any parameters at all then your house can end up looking like a messy and jarring hodgepodge of furniture and decor.
