Paint Walls And Woodwork In The Same Shade
Paint is such a wonderful design tool, and you can use it in this instance to make a small bathroom feel larger.
When you paint the woodwork white, for example, it visually splits up the wall from the skirting, window frames and any edging above like picture rails. By painting the whole area in one color you create a seamless feel that the eye can flow around without interruption.
Painting a bath in a color also distracts and if you’re looking for small bathroom flooring ideas, wide planked floorboards will make a floor space appear larger. Its all about creating visual illusions.

Add Interest With Beadboard / Wainscoting
One of the great things about small spaces is that you can add an eye-catching wall treatment like beadboard or board and batten or shiplap without having to spend a ton of money to do it.
This was the first time we had ever used beadboard . We loved it because unlike shiplap that has to be installed one plank at a time, beadboard comes in full sheets. We were able to have the guys at Home Depot cut it to the correct height for us before we even left the store, and then Donnie just had to cut it to the correct width when we got home.
While we were at it, we also took the time to install chunkier baseboards and capped off the top of the beadboard with a finishing trim piece.
With the baseboard, beadboard, and top trim piece, our wall treatment ended up being 6′ high, or 2/3 the height of our 9′ high space. I have found that bringing the wall treatment to the 2/3 mark rather than splitting the wall directly in half is more visually appealing, and it also allows us to…

In the bathroom, lighter tones with golden highlights were used.
Wood Grain Tile Floor In The Bathroom

Having wooden flooring in the bathroom is not recommended by some designers, especially if you spill a lot of water while using the bathroom. Well, you can choose a wood grain tile. It looks like wood but its actually tile.
Quote. Its a solution to your problem. A floor tile would be easy to clean and it wont be troublesome for you. Besides the flooring, the rest of the color in this bathroom is white accentuated by black items.

Characterise With Accent Colours
Image credit: Future PLC/ Matthew Williams
This compact modern bathroom uses a number of techniques to create real wow factor, despite the small square-footage. Add a hearty dose of colour to inject vibrancy and personality into a white bathroom otherwise at risk of feeling clinical and characterless. A bright yellow ceiling and shower screen give this small bathroom a real focal point, while downlighters and white tiles keep the space feeling light and bright.

While wallpaper is an excellent option for adding pattern to a cloakroom, depending on the level of extraction you have in your bathroom, it may not be the best choice if you use to it to bathe or shower often.
An excellent alternative to wallpaper is patterned tile, whether in a simple repeat or a mural-style design like this one by Surface View.

Decorative Shelves And Storage Bathroom Decor Ideas
Theres hardly anything inspirational about a bathroom counter crammed with toiletries. But organized shelves and attractive bathroom storage tell another story. A set of ornate built-ins or a few minimal floating shelves may be just the thing to take your bathroom from cluttered to cozy. If youre short on space, try installing a shelf above your bathroom door. Its the perfect out-of-the-way spot to store soap refills, toilet paper, or hand towels.
Dont be afraid to get creative when it comes to creating storage space. A mini ladder leaning against the wall can take the place of a conventional towel rack. Woven baskets attached sideways to the wall make for excellent open-faced shelves.
Be sure to keep open storage looking sharp by arranging items neatly. Fold anything that needs folding, and use a plant or a candle to add some levity. With everything on display, even a little clutter can make the whole room look a mess.
Plan Small Bathroom Lighting Early
In the early planning stages, it is important to get placements of every aspect of a small bathroom right and this includes picking your bathroom lighting ideas promptly.
The most overlooked part of planning a bathroom is all the different types of lighting needed, says Marketa Rypacek, managing director at Industville. Ensure you have overhead lighting, as well as task lighting around the mirror.
Consider where natural light comes into the space and remember that all bathroom lighting needs an appropriate IP rating.

Finish Up The Powder Room With Beautiful Details
There wasn’t much extra space for decor and accessories in this itty bitty room, but I snuck them in where I could!
The area above the toilet needed a little something, so I found this cute square frame to fit the spot. It was originally a lighter gold that didn’t match the other metals in the room, so I used Rub ‘n Buff to fix the color.
Also, I cut that beach picture out of the table of contents in a Magnolia Journal magazine because it was the perfect color combo for this room! You can find “art” just about anywhere! I placed a faux plant from TJ Maxx on the back of the toilet as well.
Some pretty soap and one cute votive holder on the top of the vanity later, and our little powder room was finished! Yippee!
Let’s take a peek at the before and after…
Oh, how I love when a plan comes together! I was so excited to share this finished space that I skipped right over some of the tutorials for the projects we did, so I promise to be back with those soon.

Simple Solutions Are More Streamlined

Architecturally and visually, it is best to keep a small bathroom feeling open by not crowding too many things into it,’ explains Barbara Sallick, Co-founder, Waterworks. ‘Edit your amenities often, hang your towels on bars or hooks, keep pattern to a minimum, and generally, make it simple.
‘The room will feel bigger if you use a pedestal sink rather than a bulky vanity, a clear glass door rather than shower curtain and reflective surfaces such as glossy ceramic tiles in a large scale, adds Barbara.
This wet room idea is the perfect example of keeping things streamlined.
